WHAT SATISFIES YOU

Psalm 107:9

Today, as never before, people seem to lack satisfaction.  Folks are looking everywhere and at most everything to find satisfaction.  Many think a bigger home, a better job, better living conditions, more money in the bank, etc., will bring satisfaction.  Sadly, many people turn to drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, extramarital affairs, and many other worldly things in search of satisfaction.  It seems like people look everywhere but to the one and only true source of real satisfaction (read John 14:27, John 16:33).

In this day of trials, hardships, and difficulties, I am glad I have found some things with which I am satisfied.  Let’s look at them:

I.          I am satisfied with His Book (read John 1:1).

             A.   The Bible is not just a book; it is THE Book.  Why is the Bible
so important and different?  It is inspired by God.  There has
never been another book like it (read 2 Tim. 3:16).

             B.   Why should one be satisfied with the Bible?

                     1.  The Bible gives life (read 1 Peter 1:23).
                      2.  The Bible gives light (read Psalm 119:105).

                     3.  The Bible shows love (read John 3:16).

                 C.   The Bible will keep us from sin when applied to our lives
(read Psalm 119:11).  Many times people fall into sin
because they lack knowledge of God’s Word.

II.        I am satisfied with the Blood (read Heb. 9:22; Matt. 26:28).

             A.   Blood means many things to many people.  When some
people think of blood, they only think about that which runs
through our veins.  Recently, I experienced open heart
surgery.  During the procedure, I suffered a loss of blood
and had to receive four units of blood.  Is this the blood that
satisfies me?  Absolutely NOT!!  It takes the blood of Jesus
Christ to save us and prepare us for heaven.

Have you placed your faith and trust in Christ’s shed blood?

If not, please do so today!  Once we invite Jesus into our
lives, the blood does many things:

                    1. The blood cleanses us from sin (read 1 John 1:7).

                  2. The blood lets us enter into the very presence of God
                         (read Heb. 10:19-20).
                    3. The blood gives us power to overcome satan (read Rev.
                         12:10-12).

Savior, please click on How to Be Saved.

III.     I am satisfied with His blessings (read Eph. 1:3).

          A.   We should thank God daily for all the many ways He has
blessed us.  So often we tend to forget.  While I was in the
hospital I became restless and discouraged.  After 13 days the
walls seemed to be closing in on me.

Two days after I returned home, I received a letter from a man I
did not know and had not met.  He too had heart surgery, but
he was in the hospital for 55 days.  Needless to say, after
reading his letter, I had a talk with God about my pity party.

Let’s learn to thank God for ALL His blessings.

          B.   We should also thank God for spiritual blessings:

                1. Our salvation (read Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 10:8-10, 13).
               2. Our standing (read 1 Peter 2:9)
               3. Our security (read John 10:27-30).

I hope this message will encourage you to be satisfied.  Look around; there is always someone worse off than you.  Let’s learn to be happy in the Lord.  He has done so much for us!!
