FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH

    Walking the Walk
 Psalm 101:2

Salvation is the greatest job of any church.  Nothing can take the place of winning the lost. I feel like one of the greatest areas we fail in, though, is when we get someone saved and we fail to teach them in their walk with the Lord. How can we live a better Christian life? How can we be of greater service to the Lord?

God has shown me recently some areas that we can get help in our walk with the Lord.  Let’s look at some very common words that will help each of us.  I hope that they will be a blessing to you:

      1.   Faith (read Heb.11:6)

What is faith (read Heb. 11:1)?   Simply put, it is taking God at his word
and not asking questions. How important is this faith?

           A.  We are saved by faith (read Eph. 2:8-9).

           B.  We are to live by faith (read Rom. 1:17).

           C.  We overcome evil by our faith (Eph. 6:16).

      2.  Obedience (read John 14:15, 23)

Many today fail in this area.  For example, God tells believers to be                                   baptized, yet many do not follow that instruction (read John 15:14).  Many
are slack in their church attendance (read Heb. 10:25). Many fail in their
support of God’s work (read Mal. 3:10).  Many do not share their faith (read
             Psalm 126:5-6).

      3.    Compassion (read Luke 10:33-37)

People don't really care how much you know until they know how much
you care.  There are people around us on a daily basis that need
help.  Jesus showed compassion on them; are we any better?

      4.    Faithfulness (read Matt. 25:14-30)

We can't do everything in our churches. Some people can’t sing in the

choir nor teach a class.  Then, there are those who can't run a bus route or
            drive a van.

There is one thing, however, that all of us can do:  BE FAITHFUL.
That is the least we can do for God, who did so much for us.

I hope these few simple words will help you in your Christian walk. If you are not a Christian, why not begin that walk today by accepting the Lord as your Savior.

May God bless you is my prayer.
