FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH

Remember Me
  I Cor. 11:17-30 (vrs. 24-25)

In our text, Paul is instructing the church about the Lord’s Supper. It seems that they were abusing and misusing this very special day, and they needed to be corrected. The people had turned it into something that the Lord never intended.

The Lord’s Supper should be a very special time for God’s people.  It should be a time of looking back to
Calvary. How often do we really think about that day that Jesus died for our sins and what the Lord endured for us on that old rugged cross?  It also should be a time to look ahead, "Till I come," and either believe or not believe that He is coming!

Recently we were told that the world would end on May 21, 2011.  As usual, it never happened.  More than ever, the world is filled with false prophets. Certainly this is nothing new, but  people today make fun of the rapture (read II Peter 3:2-8).  One day Jesus is going to return for His people, but it will be at a time when the people are least expecting Him. Jesus wants us to remember Him - “Remember me.”

Let’s look at how we can remember Him:

       I.   We should think about Him (read Phi.4:8-9).

            A.  We clutter our minds with too many things today.  We think
about the economy, gas prices, unemployment, etc. We
think about the future rather than the One who holds it!

We think about the economy rather than “My God shall
supply all my needs!”  We think about where to go rather
than “He shall direct my steps!”

II. We should anticipate Him (read I Corth. 11:26).

          A.  Are you looking for his appearing?

He could return today (read II Tim 4:8).

               Just think about the difficulties we are experiencing now;
what happens after all the Christians are gone?

III.     We should remember what Christ did on Calvary for mankind (read II Cor. 5:21)
God loved us when we were unlovable (read Rom. 5:8).  Remember what He
suffered for us:  the scourging, the crown of thorns, the nails, the sword in
His side, the mocking, the spittle.

IV.    What does he ask of us?

Remember me.  Who are we to tell?  Everyone.  All nations - "red and                      yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight."  Everyone will not

receive the message, but thank God some will. “To God be the glory, great         things he hath done."

Are you remembering Him? This could be the day of His return. If you are not prepared for his return you can be saved today.  To learn how, click on How to Be Saved.  Please don’t delay.

 May God bless you.
