The Bible’s Strangest Preacher
    Matt. 26:69-75
   (Text Verse 74:)

All through the word of God we find many strange things:

A donkey preached a sermon to a prophet named Balaam.

A great fish swallowed a man by the name of Jonah.

Women had to shave their heads before they could get
          married.

The sun stood still for a whole day.

All these are indeed unusual stories.  Probably one of the most unusual stories is the story of a preaching rooster.  What can we learn from this story?

       I.  He did what he could.

           A.  He simply crowed like a rooster.

           B.  He didn't try to tree any coons or run any rabbits.

           C.  He didn't try to sing like a canary.

           D.  He didn't try to do something that he couldn't do.  (Read Eph. 4:11-12)

II. He was not ashamed to crow.

       A.  He didn't blush when he crowed.

       B. I wonder how many Christians are ashamed to acknowledge Jesus.
              W
hen eating in public or at school, do you offer thanks for your food?

What would you do if someone were to ask you to pray for them in a
              public place?
Would you be willing to do it?  (Read Rom. 1:16)

       III. He was faithful.

       A. Every morning that rooster would crow. He wasn't a fair-weather rooster;
come rain or shine, he was up at the break of day to crow.

          B.  He crowed the year round.

       C.  There was no vacation for this bird.

       D.  He crowed whether he felt like it or not.

It still remains a mystery to me how so many Christians are  always sick
on Sunday, but seem to have a very remarkable recovery on Monday
morning in time to go to work.

       IV.  He never got discouraged.

       A.  He crowed even though nobody ever bragged about his crowing. His job
was to wake people up.  By the way, that is the job of every born-again
               Christian.

       B.  It seems today that we are living in the day of the dropouts.  Many who
were once faithful to the things of God are dropping out.
  (Read I Corth.
               l5:58, Gal 6:9)

       V.    He did his job well.

A.  He crowed loud enough for Peter to hear him.  He wasn't ashamed of the
message.  Let us never grow tired of telling the old story that

Jesus saves!!!

          B.   He was always on time with the message.

We need more Christians that are like this rooster.  Let’s do what we can. Let’s be faithful.  Let’s keep on keeping on for the Lord. Let’s try our best to get the job done.

The rooster had a message, and we do too. Let’s tell the world about the most important message there is: Jesus will still save sinners.  If you have never accepted Christ as your personal Savior, please click on to How to Be Saved and learn how.

May God bless is our prayer.
