FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH

The best is yet to come
 John 2:1-12

Many people today think the best times are behind us.  The stock market is in free- fall, and the banks and other financial institutions are in a mess.  The economy is bad and getting worse and unemployment is at a 12-15 year high.  It seems that doom and gloom are everywhere.

Also, lawlessness is raging throughout the country.  Just this week, a Baptist minister was shot and killed as he delivered his Sunday morning message.  Crimes against our precious children are increasing daily.

Is there any hope for America?  The newspapers, television, and radio seem to be filled with the message that there is no hope.  But, I have good news for the child of God.

Things will get better and the best is yet to come!

Let's look at some areas that will get better for the child of God:

    I.    I
n salvation (read Phi. 1:6)

            A.  In the Christian life, we pass through three areas:

                 1. Commencing

This starts at the time that we accept the Lord as our Savior.
                        (read John 3:16,36, 1 John 5:12)

                2. Continuing (read Pro.3:5-6)

I love the words of that great old song, "The longer I serve Him
the sweeter He grows.  The more that I love Him, the more love he
bestows.  Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows.  The longer I
serve Him the sweeter He grows."

              3. Culminating (read John 14:1-6)

One day we will get to that home for which we long to go.

    2.  In the scriptures (read Psalm 119:11,49,103)

              A.  Nowadays it seems that many people have no use for God's Word.  Little
do they know that one day they will be judged by it.

              B.  The Bible does three things in the lives of Christian people today:

                    1.  The Bible cleanses us (read John 15:3)

                    2. The Bible keeps us pure (read Psalm 119:11)

                    3.  The Bible feeds us (read Job 23:12)

3.  In Heaven: (read Rev. 21:4-5)

             A.  You may be wondering how can Heaven get any better?  It is better
because our loved ones who have died in the Lord are there.
             B.  Let me ask you a very important question today, will your circle be
unbroken in Heave?.  Are you a child of God?  What about your family,
friends, and coworkers?  Where will they go after death?

If you are not a Christian, click on "How to Be Saved" so you will know
where you will go at death.

            C.  Is the best yet to come for you?  Only if you are SAVED!!!!!
